A rare £5 note, which could be worth up to £50,000, has been found in a Christmas card in the Scottish borders.

It is one of four notes engraved with a tiny portrait of the author Jane Austen, created by artist Graham Short as part of a project for the Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery in Kelso.
The note was included in a Christmas card as a gift, but the sender did not know its true value.
The new owner, who works in education, has decided to remain anonymous but plans to keep the note and frame it.
Its authenticity has been verified by the gallery.
Mr Huggins-Haig, who has spoken to the new owner, said: "They are completely delighted to have it and it's getting framed and going on the wall.

"They were given it in a Christmas card by a relative and they are delighted as well because they didn't know that's what they were putting in the card."

The first was handed over as change, earlier in December, in a cafe in south Wales.
Mr Huggins-Haig added: "Of the two that have been found, both are with people who want to keep them as art.
"They've both been found by wonderful people who are very deserving.
"We've let the £5 notes go out there and it's been brilliantly received by people."
The two other notes were put into circulation in England and Northern Ireland.
Their serial numbers are AM32 885552 and AM32 885554.
The project has generated worldwide interest with companies in Russia, China and India all wanting to get involved.
